Asya Perkins, M.A., LPC
Asya Perkins initially earned her BA in psychology from New College of California in 1991. After working as an independent living specialist in Los Angeles, she left the field to pursue a career in the music industry. Asya enjoyed working with people on a creative level, helping individuals gain access to their own unique talents and self-expression. In 2005, Asya was forced to confront her own addiction and the underlying issues that had been left unresolved. She committed to her own healing process and became a dedicated member of the local 12-step community, which continues to be the foundation of her recovery. Inspired by her own process of healing and self-discovery, Asya returned to graduate school with the intention of gaining knowledge specific to trauma resolution and addictions. Asya earned her MA in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College in 2012. She has worked with men and women in inpatient and outpatient settings, addressing issues of trauma, addiction, dual diagnosis, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and mental illness. By working on a creative level with each individual, Asya enjoys helping people gain access to their own unique resources and self-expression, that they may embrace life. Modalities include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Special populations include children, veterans, probation/parole, addictions, serious mental illness.
