While beginning her professional career path, Kathleen Baker knew she wanted to help people in need. As someone who grew up with a family history of alcohol and drug addiction, and someone who had once achieved sobriety herself, counseling seemed to be a natural fit for her. She graduated from Ottawa University and attained a Master’s Degree in agency and professional counseling and set right to work putting it to good use. To date, Kathleen has nearly 20 years of substance abuse counseling experience.
The core of her counseling style is relating to her guests, discovering where they feel they are along their own path to recovery, and working with them on that level. She genuinely wants to build confidence and a groundwork of self-belief in each client, showing them that recovery is worth every stride and that their life is worth saving from addiction and abuse. When everything is said and done, she says the most rewarding part of her career is talking to past clients who have achieved sobriety and now have stories about self-discovery and success.
Kathleen likes helping the Prescott community and surrounding municipalities by guiding people to sobriety. The treatments and therapies she offers to her clients help set down roots of positivity, allowing people to find gainful employment and the means to be a productive member of society. The ripple effect can be seen in all facets of a community.
When Kathleen is not sitting with a client and working as a therapist, she can probably be found oil painting. She is also an avid animal lover.
