Laura Michelle McGinty
Laura Michelle McGinty graduated from Wichita State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). She always had an interest in science, especially pathophysiology, which led her to her degree.
Yet she was unable to find and hold gainful employment due to her troubling addiction to heroin and methamphetamines. In March 2017, she came to Prescott to get sober and restart her life. Through this personal experience with drug abuse, she realized her calling was helping others who found themselves in the same situations.
She uses her past to fuel her passion for helping others and finding ways to guide clients down the road to recovery. By establishing open communication with each client, she can create trust early on, which is key to reaching sobriety. Laura says the most rewarding part of her job at Blueprints for Recovery is doing “behind-the-scenes” work for clients, enabling them to focus all of their time and attention on their own personal recoveries. She regularly assists with client appointments, medications, and other miscellaneous medical needs.
Laura acts as a chairperson for regular NA meetings, as a secretary-treasurer of a CMA meeting, and as a secretary of an EDA meeting. She also participates in H&I, and she keeps sponsees in three different fellowships. In her spare time, you might find her reading a new novel, binge-watching Netflix shows, or exploring the benefits of essential oils and other forms of alternative healing. She also finds peace of mind and enjoyment in cooking, mediation, and tending to her herb garden.
