When to Worry

Drug tests are performed using a biological specimen to determine the presence or absence of synthetic weed or its metabolites. Synthetic weed has been more popular lately since it does not show up in traditional drug tests. Testing labs could not detect metabolites in urine. People could smoke infused herbs safely knowing jobs were not in danger. However, compounds are banned due to the severity and seriousness of herbal incense side effects with big money on the table for developing a test to detect synthetic cannabinoids in urine.

Synthetic Weed Test

As yet there is no practical way to test individuals for the compounds but it may be changing. Some people are looking into and one company in the U.S. called Drug Free Sport is attempting to develop a test that can be used to determine whether athletes have used the compounds. The test can only detect two of the compounds, namely JWH-108 and JWG-073. Tests have to be sent out to a toxicology lab within a short time frame otherwise the urine will deteriorate to the point the test will be useless.

Testing for Use

It is hard to know if a person has been using synthetic weed but here are some of the signs:

  • Detachment
  • General slowness of movement
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of interest in work or hobbies
  • Paranoia
  • Red eyes
  • Smoking paraphernalia like papers, bongs, pipes
  • Subdued behavior

The drug can be as potent as regular marijuana. It may actually be more potent in some circumstances than top grade stuff with very real effects that are not just unpleasant but possibly dangerous. The DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) outlawed the possession and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids throughout the United States. It is important to recognize this issue as one that is quite serious for people who use the drug.
